Om-350x122In a recent article, Paula Rizzo, the founder of the productivity site ListProducer.com, says it is important to own our goals, and say them out loud. “The more we say something,” she says, “the more we start to believe it, and the easier it becomes to nudge the desired outcome into reality.” She even encourages people to change their passwords to a word or phrase that reflects their most significant current goal.

One strategy Rizzo teaches people is to write and repeat motivational mantras every day. When you do that first thing in the morning, you start the day with a powerful intention that will remain in the forefront of your mind all day long.

Here are some of her favorite mantras:

1. “Every day in every way I’m getting better and better.”
When life seems difficult, and you find yourself questioning your abilities, this phrase reminds you that every roadblock is a learning experience. You have what it takes to succeed, and you are building your life skills.

2. “Accept what is. Let go of what was. Have faith in what will be.”
You are never fully in control, but once you accept that fact and simply relax and live in the moment, there is a feeling of peace and well-being. This mantra reminds you to have faith in diving timing.

3. “You become what you believe.”
The words you speak are powerful. Only when you believe in yourself can you persuade others to believe in you. These words from Oprah helped Rizzo believe she could become an author.

4. “Yesterday you said tomorrow.”
Most people procrastinate once in a while, but you can procrastinate your life away. You are not a failure if you put things off occasionally, but this mantra reminds you to hold yourself accountable.

5. “Just keep swimming.”
In the movie Finding Nemo, Nemo’s friend Dory sang these words to herself whenever she got discouraged. She didn’t spend time thinking about the problems she faced; she just kept moving toward her goals.

Every morning, repeat these mantras to yourself, and spend a few minutes thinking about them. Become your own best encourager, and see the positive results.
