Artificial Sweeteners

Americans are addicted to sugar now more than ever before – and this deadly addiction has caused a media stir.

With Americans consuming an estimated 80 grams of sugar per day – the market for “sugar substitutes” has grown – fooling people into thinking they are making healthier choices.

But the truth is, these so-called “healthy” sugar substitutes are even more deadly than sugar – as they are full of chemicals.

So if you’re looking to kick your sugar addiction – congrats – but make sure to avoid these artificial sweeteners at all cost.

Splenda

Otherwise known as sucralose, Splenda hit the markets as a “healthy” alternative to sugar.

Marketers boasted this zero-calorie sweetener was the perfect fix for those who wanted something sweet but were looking to cut back on sugar.

And with the obesity and diabetes crisis sweeping our nation – people bought into the hype and started dumping packets of Splenda into their coffee or tea thinking they were making a healthy choice.

But the truth is – Splenda is created in a lab – and actually comes from a sugar molecule!

The owner of Rise Up Nutrition stated that chemists adjust the sugar so our bodies don’t absorb it – but admitted how the marketing is misleading.

Runners World reported:

“It’s clever marketing,” she says. “But it does mislead consumers because it’s passed off as a natural thing, and it’s not. The sugar molecule is natural—you can find it in foods across the Earth—but once you bring it to a laboratory and start tampering with it, it’s no longer sugar. It doesn’t function in the body like sugar.”

Equal

Equal (also known as aspartame) is another toxic substance and is found in many food and drink products such as diet cola.

As Freedom Health News previously reported – diet soda is one of the worst things you can put into your body.

But yet again, people think by giving up sugar that picking up a diet cola is healthy.

Aspartame causes all kinds of havoc within the body – especially when heated.

Many health experts even say it causes cancer.

Healthline reported:

“As of 2014, aspartame was the largest source of methanol in the American diet. Methanol is toxic in large quantities, yet smaller amounts may also be concerning when combined with free methanol because of enhanced absorption. Free methanol is present in some foods and is also created when aspartame is heated. Free methanol consumed regularly may be a problem because it breaks down into formaldehyde, a known carcinogen and neurotoxin, in the body.”

And since these faux sweeteners have fewer calories, people become accustomed to the sweet taste and end up craving sweets even more.

To truly kick your sugar habit – start by really eliminating sugar – and all its substitutes.

Once you begin to eat good quality meat and fresh vegies – your body will adjust and you won’t have the same cravings for sugar you once had.

If you insist on having something sweet – look for more natural products like raw honey.

But even then, all sweeteners should still be used in moderation.

Sweet ‘N Low

Yes, these pink little packets still grace the tables of many diners and fast food establishments.

Otherwise known as saccharin – this cancer-causing chemical was proved to cause cancer in lab rats – and the FDA even had warning labels on saccharin products until 2001, reported Everyday Health.

But the problem is that since the label is now removed people think it is safe to consume saccharin when nothing could be further from the truth.

Everyday Health reported:

“According to this organization, a committee of non-governmental scientists, the National Toxicology Program’s Board of Scientific Counselors, reviewed saccharin data and concluded in 1997 that saccharin should still be considered a cancer risk.

By removing the saccharin warning label, the Center for Science in the Public Interest believes that more people, including children, will increase their consumption of products containing the artificial sweetener and increase their risk of contracting cancer.”

Just Say No!

The health risks from these “zero calorie” sweeteners are simply not worth it.

From lab-created chemicals to known carcinogens – it’s best to avoid these products at all cost.

Don’t depend on warning label from the FDA to keep you safe – enough research has been done on these products to show the bad outweighs the good.
