It’s flu season. And during flu season you’re likely to hear the best way to stay protected is via a flu shot.

If you believe this to be true you might want to second guess what you’re hearing.

Truth is the flu isn’t nearly as dangerous as people are led to believe.

Part of the reason everyone thinks you need a flu shot is in part to the mass hysteria surrounding mass vaccinations and the theory those who aren’t vaccinated are somehow more dangerous to the population at large.

The other reason people think it’s so dangerous is because they don’t truly understand how the flu works. T

The flu, and other flu-like illnesses, aren’t as bad as you think. The truth is they’re caused by a weakened immune system. So if you can boost your immune system’s function you’ve got a much better chance of fighting it off.

With that being said, this is one of the primary factors in the elderly and the young being especially susceptible to the flu. Often times their immune systems are quite weak and won’t sufficiently resist the flu and its effects on the body.

However, it doesn’t mean they are automatically targets. Anything you can do to help boost your immune system function will allow you to fight flu.

Perhaps one of the easiest ways to strengthen your immune system is by getting more Vitamin D into your system.

While most people associate Vitamin C with immune system health, Vitamin D is actually one of the most important nutrients for total immune health. What you might now know is vitamin D is an anti-microbial, and also works at the cellular level to help the body create 200-300 illness-fighting peptides.

These two properties of vitamin D help fight viruses, fungi and bacteria at bay.

Part of the reason is so bad during the winter months is because people’s levels of Vitamin D at this time.

The reason why is Vitamin D is supposed to come from natural exposure to the sun. When your body is exposed to natural sunlight in then converts it into vitamin D.

Obviously in the summertime, when the sun is out longer and the rays are stronger this isn’t a big deal. But come wintertime the sun loses its strength and Vitamin D levels begin to fall.

Thus is why the flu always seems to spring up during the winter months.

According to Dr. Mercola, “It’s estimated that over 95 percent of U.S. senior citizens may be deficient, along with 85 percent of the American public.”

Similarly those deficiencies extend to children as well. It’s estimated that as many as 2 in 3 children have Vitamin D levels that are less than ideal. As you can see, that might explain why they’re the ones who get the flu the most, and are hardest hit by it.

Fortunately, it’s easy to bring Vitamin D levels up to a healthy range. And the benefits are numerous.

As Dr. Mercola reports, “researchers have found that 2,000 IU of vitamin D per day abolished seasonal influenza.”

To bring your Vitamin D levels back into the healthy range, you can take a supplement in droplet form. When you take Vitamin D3, it’ll help restore your vitamin D levels to where they should be.

You can also use safe tanning booths to restore Vitamin D levels. As you work to restore those vitamin D levels, your body is able to fight off the flu in a way it couldn’t before.

Bottom line? The flu isn’t nearly as big a problem as we make it out to be. Provided you get the right nutrients to stay protected from it.

  1. *uck a flu shot. medical profession talk them up to take care of their buddies the drug companies. don’t get them, don’t need them.

  2. I have never gotten a flu shot. Now, having said that, I did get the flu maybe once as a kid and again in my early 20’s but that’s it. My Mom always made me take supplements-Shaklee-but when I got old enough to leave home, I stopped taking them for about 20 years and always caught colds, got sinus infections etc. Now that I’m back on them-I’m much healthier. No flu shots for me and no flu!

  3. As a former US Army preventive medicine specialist I would myself NOT get flu shots. Recommend you read Eipstein’s article titled “WHO killed Africa”!

  4. due to a weakened respiratory system, and working in student transportation, I was sick all the time when I working, despite taking Vitamin D3 and getting a flu shot. I’d end up with pneumonia about every third year. Since retirement, I’ve found I seldom get sick anymore, although my allergist is still insistent on my getting the flu shot because of my asthma.

  5. A flu shot can give you the worst flu you can imagine. I got it and threw up 36 times….that is 3 and 6. If that happened now I would die, but it was years ago. It was the ONLY time I ever had a flue shot. I never would again just like my daughter. Its called…vit D and C in a chewy… Try it instead. Also I take an immune chewy when I don’t feel good in the throat. It .straightens me up. I am 72 yr and still in great health. I have been in the hospital twice. Once when I was born…weighing 3.6 lbs and dropped to 3 , no special breathing help. And the 2nd time I had my daughter. ..No problems at all. I don’t do the shots, the mammograms, the colon things, but a stool sample. My daughter is the same. We have been what people refer to as healthy. My daughter says we come from good stock, tracing on some sides to the Puritans who braved everything and survived, as also the Colonist.

I don;t believe in this getting people toi survive that are passing on illness, as they would not survive just 20 years ago. This sounds bad but they are giving their children autism, etc.
